Smoke-Free Air Act Business Information Packet
As of June 2012, the voters of Hannibal passed Proposition 1 and subsequently, the Hannibal City Council passed the Hannibal Smoke-Free Air Act. The law, which took effect on July 1, 2012, extends secondhand smoke protections to customers and employees alike in virtually all indoor workplaces, including restaurants and bars. Beginning July 1, 2012, no smoking is allowed inside bars, restaurants, or other workplaces in the City of Hannibal. The law calls for each business impacted to clearly and conspicuously display a no smoking sign or the international no smoking emblem. For your convenience, we have enclosed a window cling that you may use at your facility and meets these guidelines.
Here are items to assist you with implementing this new law:
- A brochure with frequently asked questions about the new smoke-free law
- Tip sheet to help you implement the law, familiarize your employees with its provisions and get customers to comply
- “No Smoking” window clings (you may also use your own)
