Emergency Management Agency

The City of Hannibal Emergency Management Agency serves as a resource to prepare, respond, and recover from major disasters. The Hannibal Emergency Management Agency’s responsibilities include emergency operations planning, preparedness, coordination of resources, mitigation, public education, and grant administration.

The City operates an Emergency Operations Center, along with an array of operational guidelines, equipment, leadership teams, and contractual arrangements for food, shelter, equipment, and personnel.

The Emergency Management Director reports directly to the city manager and is responsible for emergency preparedness planning, and emergency operations and response functions during disasters. It is the job of the emergency management director to develop and oversee plans and operations that will prevent injury and minimize damage caused by natural disasters.

FREE DISASTER PREPAREDNESS COURSE
Hannibal Emergency Management is hosting a Disaster Preparedness Course which is conducted by Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX)’s National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center on March 21-22^nd 2025. The training is being held at the Marion County Ambulance District Training Center at 142 Jaycee Drive.

The course is designed to teach and encourage community members impacted by disaster to prepare, take perseveration actions, and perform light search and rescue to aid their family and other community members in the immediate aftermath of a natural or human-made incident. The course is not intended for the professional responder, however would be beneficial for their family.

The goal is to make the community more prepared, lessening the resources needed on our end as responders. Those wishing to attend need to sign up on the TEEX website and with SEMA. You may need to make a FEMA ID number for certificates, but this can all be done by the public on the internet rather easily.
